Attempted Murder Charges

Troy police arrested Benjamin Franklin Williams Wednesday for attempted murder in connection with the February 28 shooting in the vicinity of Lightfoot Drive in Troy according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

Williams, 19 years-old from the Springhill area, turned himself into Troy Police at approximately 10:00 a.m. Wednesday March 5. A warrant for attempted murder was served on Williams at that time. His bond is $50,000.00 in this case and he was transferred to the Pike County Jail Wednesday by Troy Police.

Troy Police responded to a reported shooting Thursday afternoon February 28 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Williams was identified as the suspect in this case.

The victim in this case was treated at Troy Regional Medical Center's Emergency Room for a gunshot wound. He was later airlifted to Baptist-South Hospital in Montgomery. He was released from the hospital in Montgomery earlier this week.
