Vehicle Pursuit Recovers Stolen Vehicle

Troy Police arrested a 16 year male at approximately 4:35 p.m. after he wrecked the stolen car he was driving according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

Police received a report at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in reference to stolen 2000 Buick at Jacob's body Shop on College Street in Troy.

A Troy Police officer spotted the stolen car on Highway 87 / Elba Highway and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and ran attempted to elude police traveling north on Highway 87 headed toward Troy. The suspect turned onto the Pike County Lake Road with police in pursuit. He turned onto the Henderson Highway headed toward Troy and crossed US 231 onto South Three Notch Street.

The juvenile lost control of the vehicle near South Three Notch Street at Tate Street and struck a fire plug disabling the vehicle at approximately 4:34 p.m. The juvenile suspect exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by Troy Police and Alabama State Troopers at 4:35 p.m.

He was not injured in the wreck and after he taken into custody he was transported to the Troy Police Department. He was placed in detention at the TPD Short Term Juvenile Detention awaiting further court proceedings.

He is also being charged in connection with the theft of a Cadillac from the Brundidge Street Texaco Station Monday. The 16 year old will face charges of theft first degree, receiving stolen property first degree, attempting to elude police and driving without first obtaing a driver's license.

Chief Anthony Everage commended the Troy officers involved in this case along with the Alabama State Troopers in their assistance in apprehending the juvenile.
