Troy Police responded to a reported accidental discharge of a gun Friday April 4th in Troy at approximately 12:30 pm on Laurel Lane according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

When Troy Police arrived at the scene of the reported incident they found an 11 year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. The child was sitting in the backseat of her parent's car when the incident occurred.

It is believed the gun accidently discharged while being removed from the trunk of the vehicle and went through backseat, striking the 11year-old in the back.

Troy Fire Department personnel administered first-aid and CARE Ambulance transported her to Troy Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
