Capital Murder Arrest

Troy Police arrested four black males Thursday (4/07) at approximately 11:00 pm for capital murder in connection with the murders of 53-year-old Mark Kelvin Adams and 22-year-old Carla Leann Smilie at Adams' residence on Pike County Road 7741 near the Needmore community according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

John Contrel Foster, 20, Troy Kentrell McClaney, 21, Marquisse Rashad McClaney, 23, and Brandon Jamal Ryles, 21, have been charged with two counts each of capital murder-robbery in connection with this case.

Foster and M.R. McClaney are from Troy, T.K. McClaney is from Union Springs and Ryles is from Brundidge.

Troy Police responded to a call of subjects that had been shot at the above residence on Pike County Road 7741 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Upon officers arrival at the scene they located the victims in the residence. Both had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest warrants were obtained for the four suspects Thursday evening. Because of the Capital Murder charge, all four suspects are being held without bond. The warrants were served Thursday and they were placed in the Troy City Jail.

Troy Police have recovered the weapons used in these crimes.

This case is still being investigated by the Troy Police Department with assistance from the Twelfth Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, the Pike County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, Dale County Sheriff's Office and the Ventress Correctional Facility K-9 Tracking Unit.
