Drug Arrest

Troy Police arrested James Earl Burney a 28 year-old black male Wednesday June 1st in connection with a search warrant executed at a residence on Aster Avenue in Troy according to Chief Anthony Everage. The arrests were drug related and Burney has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police seized substances that field tested positive for cocaine and marijuana. They also seized a set of digital scales and approximately $800.00 in cash. Narcotics officers from the Troy Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff's Department assigned to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, the TPD Emergency Response Team and TPD Patrol Officers assisted in the execution of the search warrant and the arrest of Burney. This case is still under investigation. Burney was transported to the Troy City Jail and later transferred to the Pike County Jail. He is being held without bond because he is currently on probation for distribution and possession of a controlled substance. ![]() |
