Capital Murder / Assault 1st Degree Arrest

Troy Police arrested Javontrez D. Boykin (Troy) a 17- year-old black male Friday (6/25) in connection with the Thursday shooting of 28-year-old Jennifer Griffin (Troy) at a residence on Rose Circle according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage. Boykin has been charged with capital murder and assault first degree in connection with this case. The victim was three months pregnant when she was shot and the unborn child died. Troy Police responded to a call of a subject shot at a residence on the 100 block of Rose Circle Thursday at approximately 6:00 p.m. Upon officers arrival they found the victim in the residence suffering from at least two gunshot wounds. Boykin allegedly shot into the occupied residence striking the victim in her right thigh and lower stomach area. The victim was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center's Emergency Room for treatment by Care Ambulance. She was later transferred to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. Arrest warrants were obtained for Boykin's arrest Friday. Because of the Capital Murder charge, Boykin is being held without bond. The warrants were served on Boykin Friday at the Troy Police Department. This case is still being investigated by Troy Police. Boykin was transferred to the Pike County Jail Thursday by Troy Police. ![]()
